As the first major mint in the world to celebrate the animals of the ancient Chinese lunar calendar, we are pleased to continue Series III of the world-renowned Australian Lunar coin program with 2021 designs celebrating the Year of the Ox.
This 99.99% pure silver coin portrays an ox and its calf with a cherry blossom tree, a symbol of love and beauty. The design includes the inscription OX 2021, the Chinese character for ‘ox’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. Issued as Australian legal tender, it bears the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Meticulously crafted with our superior bullion finish featuring shiny motifs on a delicately frosted table, the coin offers unequivocal assurance of purity, weight and tradability for all investors and collectors absorbed by the potent mythology of the lunar calendar.
AUTHENTICATION
This coin includes an authentication feature on the reverse in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
PRESENTATION & MINTAGE
The Australian Lunar Year of the Ox 2021 5oz Silver Bullion Coin is presented by The Perth Mint in an individual protective acrylic capsule. No mintage limit applies, however, production will close at the end of 2021, after which The Perth Mint will declare the coin's official mintage.
