A Perth Mint first, this innovative 1oz silver coin features a Laughing Buddha insert made of jade, a stone traditionally symbolising beauty, purity, and virtue in Chinese culture. The laughing Buddha is a Buddhist figure frequently represented in statues believed to bring good luck and fortune. He is portrayed atop a mound of coins on the reverse of this stunning antiqued coin in reference to his association with prosperity and abundance. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as Tuvalu legal tender. DESIGN: The coin’s reverse depicts the legendary figure sitting atop a mound of coins against a background of stylised rays of sunlight. The inscription ‘LAUGHING BUDDHA’, a patterned border, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also included in the design.
