Since its debut in 1988, the Royal Canadian Mint's Silver Maple Leaf (SML) has become a highly coveted bullion investment coin. The 2025 SML is crafted with one troy ounce (31.11 grams) of 99.99% fine silver and carries a face value of $5. This year's edition boasts enhanced security features, including radial lines, a micro-engraved maple leaf, and BULLION DNA Anti-Counterfeiting Technology. BULLION DNA Anti-Counterfeiting Technology sets a new industry standard for coin authentication. Each die used to produce SML coins is laser micro-engraved with a unique security mark. Our registration process uses digital non-destructive activation (DNA) technology, capturing images encrypted with an algorithm signature and storing them in a secure database. This proprietary technology enables the authentication of Silver Maple Leaf coins dated 2015 and later.
The 2025 SML also features a textured maple leaf micro-engraved with laser technology on a small area of the coin's reverse side. At the center of this mark, visible under magnification, is the numeral "25," indicating the coin’s year of issue. The radial lines on the 2025 Silver Maple Leaf are machined to within microns on the master tooling, ensuring maximum reproducibility from die to die and coin to coin. These lines create a distinctive light-diffracting pattern unique to this coin.
