DESIGN:
The coin portrays a koala climbing a tree with a dependent young ‘joey’ clinging to its back for security. As well as the inscription ‘KOALA’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the reverse includes the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.
